Editing Find Love

The eighth track in Hikaru Utada's BADモード (BAD MODE) album, Find Love is a introspective reflection regarding their personal journey on evolving the relationship between both themselves and their peers. Thematically, Find Love starts off with an undeniably quirky instrumental arrangement that might give off a playful or casual atmosphere. My favorite part about this track is the progression from this playful vibe in the beginning, to a notably morose and sullen monologue where the listener can sense the frustration within the vocals. 

This specific shift, which occurs approximately two minutes and fourty-five seconds into the track, perfectly represents what BAD モード is all about. In that, even during momentary joy, these good moments will be quickly drowned out by overarching grievances if one has not fully realised their interpersonal relationships with not only others, but themselves. I really love how there is a notably dejected bass drop that comes out of the blue and doesn't seem to be implemented solely for its thematic relevance. At this point in the song, it seems to auditorily represent an emotional decline, especially when the lyrics at this point become self-doubt, questioning, and repetitive pleadings to "find love".

This song has a Japanese variant known as キレイな人(Find Love). However, I prefer its English version.
