Face My Fears is a 2019 track that serves as the main theme for Disney's KINGDOM HEARTS III, which released during the same year. Face My Fears was also partially re-recorded for its placement in Utada's 2022 album BAD MODE. This is her first collaboration with EDM artist Skrillex, who was eager to make an impact for this game series that has been a part of him from a young age. In fact, Skrillex pays homage to Kingdom Hearts with his very name, which is reminiscent of a class of characters whose names are amalgamated by adding an X to their human name; Skrillex's name is "killers", plus the letter X.

Face My Fears continues the franchise's tradition of having two different versions for English and Japanese, each with their own lyrics while having the same instrumental track.

Face My Fears transverses genres during the track, starting as a piano-based solo before dropping into a full-EDM track, to which fans are divisive over. This track begins with periods of self-questioning in either language, though, as the song progresses, the Japanese version tends to be more suitable for the album's overall goal of self-interpretation, as the English version seems to be communicating with a third party, begging for independence.
