Today, I released the two variations of the custom hex menus that I use publicly.
With that, this page serves to host the other custom software or UI edits I've not released yet.
Nintendo 3DS
Themes
I've created a handful of Nintendo 3DS themes, but most of them are lost to time.
USM-eM
This incorporated purple and green motives as part of the game colors. This preceded the rebranding to USM.
The side buttons are transformed to the splashes of ink from the game's general design.
The top of the screen has a similar effect for the UI.
The bottom screen shows light rays in the style of Super Smash Bros. Melee.
The background theme is an edited version of the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Menu theme.
It uses Fox's Reflector sound effect for inputs.
The theme was last updated on March 22, 2018.
Angels of Nintendo
A theme showcasing Masahiro Sakurai, Reginald Fils-Aime, Satoru Iwata, and Shigeru Miyamoto, alongside some of their creations (like Super Smash Bros.)
The background theme is also an edited version of the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Menu theme.
It uses Fox's Reflector sound effect for inputs.
Nintendo Switch
Themes
The most commonly viewed UI of the console, there's little reason to keep it generic and as clunky to navigate as the original qlaunch ResidentMenu.
Hex
This is a released theme which uses a light version of the background, using the same texture as the Character Select screen currently in USM. It was the result of a desire of dual themed consoles, yet no currently released theme having both light and dark options. In addition, other themes removed icons, which helps no one and only causes issues.
It uses two rows of icons to avoid scrolling, and the applets are contained in a separate panel.
The homebrew icon is created from a tool on an offline emuMMC; it is not part of the theme.
The layout was designed by kinlochkl.
Gathering screenshots and developing the theme took approximately 4 hours. The theme covers every visual area of qlaunch. I'd also like to incorporate the Nintendo Switch Online menu button later on.
Aside from this, the theme is complete and available to download.
Dark Hex
This is a released theme which uses a dark version of the background, using the same texture as the Character Select screen currently in USM.
Otherwise, the layout is fully identical to the one in the light version.
However, I will eventually create a version of this theme for OLED model consoles.
The only remaining issues with both versions of Hex, is that the icons are part of a scrollable area - it is possible to scroll the entire UI away at once.
Aside from this, the theme is fully complete and available to download.
Super Smash Bros - JAG Layout
This is a Super Smash Bros. themed design using the layout proposed by Reddit user r/JustAGamer, also known as the JAG Layout.
This theme is only compatible with light mode and similarly lacks the NSO buttons as Hex.
The date and time had to manually be cut out as part of the background image.
I'm still searching for a way to edit the color of the text. I've already moved it below the game icons, but that isn't shown.
I'm also planning to move all of the applet icons under the user.
Aside from this, the theme is fully complete.
PC
Icon-sized cursor, duly named Icon.
It's a cursor I've created to be less visually intrusive over the standard Windows cursors. It takes only 25 pixels to render and the top left corner is correctly aligned with the interaction area of the cursor. Eight of the pixels on the interior are transparent; the other 17 pixels were left opaque in order to not blend in with neither light nor dark backgrounds.
The cursor's interior will fill orange when in contact with a link, and will fill with blue if the OS calls any loading animations.
The cursor doesn't display properly on 4K displays as it was intended for a 1080p panel.
It is available to download.
