North Halvorsen, also known by online handles ha1vorsen and Solo, is the webmaster of Halcove and its supplementary sites, like this Wiki. Halvorsen started developing this website as a pasttime and as a challenge, in order to document their projects, memories, and share blog content on a website format most people are already familiar with.

North is a mobile device technician who started around 2015 modifying Nintendo handhelds, such as the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch. The homebrew community sprung a newfound interest in device maintenance and customisation. This interest lead to the acquisition of new skills, such as data forensics and reverse engineering for hardware and software. When it comes to electronics, I hope you can trust me to know what I'm talking about.

North uses gender-neutral pronouns exclusively, in order to avoid erroneous assumptions based on inconsistent definitions of gender. I will respect you the same way you respect me. Please don't feel free to describe me improperly just because I'm not in the same room as you.

Introduction

If it involves some form of enthusiast technology development, you can count on me to be caught up on it. To this end, I like to be inside of things and understand their history and capabilities, so that I can eventually take advantage of or produce them for myself. This isn't just limited to repairs, but also software and firmware architectural design as well, music creation, computer-aided design, and more. I appreciate the security of knowing exactly how the world around me works so there I don't run into unfortunate surprises.

I also enjoy gaming! You can always feel free to hit me up for a session of Super Smash Bros. matches or compare experiences in story-based games like OMORI.

I am a hardware collector and data hoarder as well.

Above all, my goal with this site is to have documentation about my experiences, actions, and projects - documentation that hopefully outlives me and doesn't become lost to history. I hope that isn't too much to hope for.

Contact

While centralising online identities is often considered bad practice from a privacy perspective, I have a personal policy to consciously maintain a position to make it as easy as possible to highlight and verify personal shortcomings and miscommunications. Keeping my actions and identities continuously auditable is a vital solution in order to accomplish this. Socials can generally all be found under the "ha1vorsen" account name.

Most often, I am reachable at Discord under the username Halvorsen. If you require urgent contact, this is the number one method to use. I can secondarily be contacted at my email: hal[at]halcove.com.

I am on Keybase as ha1vorsen.

My Nintendo Switch friend code is SW1803-4859-5198.
