Cave Story Project

This is a project that I intend to write for, which details events leading up to the 2005 game Cave Story. It will eventually be hosted at the Bloodstained Sanctuary, as I don't believe the original story of Cave Story is well suited for adaptation into a webcomic.

I plan for the overall topic to involve the concept of recusancy, detailing the ambitions that fueled the original war on the Surface that occurred from before the events of Cave Story.

I have a few other plans for this project as well, such as including a character similar in function to Misery, named Mercy. I also want to incorporate factors that occur in real life into the story of this prequel. For example, a scenario involving the Blue Whale Challenge, unknown to inhabitants of the Floating Island. I intend to make the story as emotional to witness as it is to write. Just like this website, it is intended as a pasttime that might blossom into an original work, or simply stay as a prequel.

Right now, the biggest challenge is keeping everything in line with the original lore.
